Conservationist Sri Dinesh Ch. Choudhury Honoured

Veteran wildlife activist Sri Dinesh Choudhury-Dudul to his friends whose passion for protection and conservation of wild animals  more particularly elephants has been widely acclaimed both at home and abroad is honoured with Kaziranga Wildlife Society Lifetime Achievement Award 2011, in a well attend ceremony in Guwahati Press Club on 12th  February , 2012 last.

Kaziranga Wildlife Society the oldest NGOs in the region founded by late Dr. Robin Benerjee and a few of his associates in the year 1969, with its headquarter in Kohora, has instituted their Lifetime Achievement Award which carries a citation a trophy and a cheque of Rs 15,000/-( Rupees Fifteen Thousand ) only .

This Annual award is presented to a person with outstanding contribution to the cause of protection , management and conservation of environment , ecology or wildlife and selected by a panel of experts in the field with impeccable credentials.

The function was presided over by the President of KWS Sri Indrajit  Dutta . Mr Surajit Dutta, Director, Kaziranga National Park handed out the award to Sri Dinesh Ch. Choudhury in presence of distinguish gathering in the Press Club premises.

While accepting the award Sri choudhury extended his thanks to organisers for having considered him  such a worthy of the honor  and to the audience from this kind presence on that occasion . He also enthralled the crowd narrating a few exciting anecdotes from his handsome experience with herds of elephants in the wild, often exposing himself  to great risk for his own life  
The Society also felicities Shri Prafulla Ch. Sharma, founder secretary, Kaziranga Wildlife Society. Who stood by the Society from its travail to its adulthood. What was born as The Rhino Club in the mid sixties had become Kaziranga Club soon after to finaly emerge as the Kaziranga Wildlife society in 1969 and all throughout Shri Sharma remained the elan behind the evolutionof the Society, during his long stay in Kohora as  an important functionary of Assam Tourism.
